Duties
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.Experience: Four years of experience in the repair, maintenance and inspection of heavy-duty automotive vehicles and equipment. *Two (2) years of experience supervisory and/or lead experience overseeing staff, assigning and reviewing work, providing direction and guidance, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
*Selective Qualification recruitments are utilized when the position requires specific or additional bona fide occupational qualifications (knowledge, skill, or ability). No substitution is allowed for a selective qualification.
Notes:
- Additional experience as described above may be substituted for up to four years of the education requirement on a year for year basis.
- Additional technical or vocational training may be substituted for up to two years of the experience requirement on a year for year basis.
Special Requirements:
- Employees are subject to twenty-four (24) hour call-in during special or weather events, emergency situations, or as deemed necessary.
- Work is usually performed in a vehicle garage setting which may be hazardous.
- Bus Maintenance Supervisors may be subject to travel and work outdoors at various locations throughout the MTA service area, in all types of weather conditions.
- Although Supervisors are required to wear daily protective clothing and equipment (i.e. Uniforms; safety shoes; safety glasses; safety vest; etc) some assignments may require employees to wear additional protective clothing and or safety equipment.
- Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49- Federal Department of Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules.
