Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Allegedly Attacking Grandfather with Hammer

GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A Glen Burnie man is in police custody following an alleged attack on his grandfather that occurred on Friday.

Emergency medical personnel were initially dispatched to a residence on Lionsheart Glen to respond to a reported fall. However, upon arrival, they learned from the victim that he had not fallen but had been assaulted by his grandson.

The victim reported to medics that his grandson struck him multiple times in the head with a hammer. He was found with significant injuries, including a deep gash on the left side of his head and substantial bleeding.

Authorities arrested the grandson, identified as Ethan Perry Labuskes, after discovering blood on his right big toe during their investigation at the scene.

Further inquiries revealed that the victim had been sitting in the living room when Labuskes entered, mistakenly believing the victim was harming their dog. Labuskes allegedly grabbed a hammer and struck his grandfather between 10 to 12 times.

During the altercation, the victim managed to seize the hammer, resulting in both individuals falling to the ground. Labuskes reportedly then restrained his grandfather for approximately 30 minutes, making it difficult for him to breathe.

Despite the victim's pleas for air, Labuskes allegedly refused to release him and even attempted to prevent him from calling 911. Eventually, Labuskes allowed the victim to make the emergency call.

Once in the ambulance, the victim disclosed the details of the assault to the medical staff, expressing fear for his life. Police later interviewed Labuskes, who admitted to the attack and indicated where he had hidden the hammer.

Labuskes now faces multiple charges, including first- and second-degree attempted murder and assault.
